A recent study at Roosevelt University supports the power of a "joie de vivre." The study examined the happiness levels of 674 pairs of elderly twins, followed in the study for a median of 9 years. Results revealed a significant link between self-reported well-being and longevity. On average, the twins who reported being happier were more likely to live longer.
